Hydrotherapy is extremely effective in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in dogs. Dogs who suffer pain exercising on land can develop strength and fitness much more comfortably in a warm weightless environment.  Swimming is not only a great way to relieve pain, swelling and stiffness, it promotes relaxation, and helps to build cardiovascular fitness and strength.

Conditions that respond to hydro include:

Arthritis                                            Cruciate ligament rupture

Hip dysplasia                                     Spinal problems

Nerve damage                                    Muscle wastage

Obesity                                             Weakness, paralysis

Cardiovascular conditions                  Conditions related to old age

Your dog does not need to have a medical condition to enjoy hydro.  Swimming can be for fun and fitness too!

The Pool:

The pool is 15’X 9’, very gradual entry / exit ramps to ensure easy access for even the wobbliest of dogs, and heated to 30'C / 86'F.

Bromine used to treat water instead of chlorine. Kinder to skin and eyes; no chlorine smell!

Adjustable jets to increase water resistance,  creating a harder work out.

How it works:

Dogs are fitted with a buoyancy jacket. Lara usually goes in the water with the dogs, for gentle joint mobilisation, stretching exercises, encouraging correct movement patterns (physiotherapy in the water),and to reassure nervous dogs.  Owners do not get into the pool. Dogs are showered before and after swimming. A blaster dryer is available.
